instrumentsBAND
A group of musicians who perform together, especially on wind, brass, and percussion instruments or in popular music.
A band is an ensemble of musicians performing together. The term has two main traditions. In military and concert band contexts, a band consists of woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments — no strings except occasionally bass guitar. In popular music, a band typically comprises vocals, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drums, though lineups vary widely. Rock bands, jazz bands, and big bands each have distinctive instrumentation. A marching band performs while moving in formation, combining music with choreography. The rhythm section — usually drums, bass, and a chording instrument — forms the core of most popular music bands. Bands may be trios, quartets, quintets, or larger groups, and the interplay between members defines the ensemble's sound.
The Beatles, often called the greatest band of all time, almost chose the name "The Silver Beetles" before settling on their famous pun.
